About this free ETHOS mock exam
This is one timed pass through the four skill areas the B.C. ETHOS exam is documented to test: memory and observation, reading and critical thinking, writing and editing, and summary writing. It takes about 20 minutes. Three sections are scored for you on your device; summary writing is self-reviewed against a model answer, because a short written summary can’t be graded fairly by a simple script.
How to use your result
Treat the score as a pointer, not a prediction. Look at which section cost you the most, then work on that skill: the guides on memory and observation, reading comprehension, writing and editing and summary writing each explain what the section asks for and how applicants usually lose marks.
How this differs from the real exam
ETHOS Prep is independent. The questions here are original practice, not official or leaked exam content, and passing this mock does not predict a result on the real exam. For what the real exam covers, how it is marked, read the B.C. ETHOS assessment guide, and see whether your score transfers between departments. Some police services publish official sample material; the guide lists which ones exist and what they cover. If you are applying to the RCMP instead, use the RCMP-style mock and the Online Entrance Assessment guide.
