Terms of Use
Effective 2026-08-30 · Version 1.1
This governs using ethosprep.ca and ETHOS Practice, including creating and using an ETHOS account (section 13) — a free product with no active paid tier yet. It is not legal advice, and ETHOS recommends independent professional review before it governs a paid service. Sections below marked reserved describe what a future version will need to add once that ships, rather than inventing terms for a product that doesn’t exist yet.
By using ethosprep.ca or ETHOS Practice, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site. If you’re using ETHOS on behalf of a minor or as a minor yourself, see section 2 — a contract with a minor generally isn’t enforceable against them under B.C. law, and these terms don’t attempt to override that.
ETHOS Prep is intended for people researching or preparing for a career with a Canadian police service — in practice, older teens and adults, since most Canadian police services set a minimum application age around 19. You represent that you have the legal capacity to use this site and, if you create an account, to enter into these terms. ETHOS does not collect the kind of information that would let it verify anyone’s age, and doesn’t claim to.
ETHOS Prep is an independently operated preparation service — original practice content, structured interview and physical- readiness training, and applicant-process education. It is not a government body or a police service, and it operates entirely separately from any agency’s actual recruiting or assessment process.
ETHOS Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated on behalf of the RCMP, any municipal police service, JIBC, or any other law-enforcement or government agency. References to the RCMP, specific police services, the ETHOS exam, or other agency-specific names, processes, or standards throughout this product are factual — they describe what you’re preparing for — and never imply a relationship with the agency named. Every practice scenario, question, and prompt is original ETHOS content, never official, leaked, or confidential material from any agency, and is clearly labelled as such throughout the product.
Using ETHOS Prep — including any paid tier, once one exists — does not guarantee a passing score, an interview, advancement in any recruiting process, or an offer of employment from any police service. Hiring and recruiting decisions are made entirely by the agency, using criteria ETHOS does not control and has no visibility into. Readiness figures, scores, and recommendations shown in the product describe your own ETHOS-recorded practice activity only — never an official assessment, a prediction of exam performance, or a hiring-suitability judgment.
Physical-readiness content (POPAT/PFA information, target times, training logs, and recommendations) is general preparation education, not medical advice, a training program designed for your individual circumstances, or a guarantee of physical-test success. Consult a qualified professional before starting a new training program. Every metric you log is self-reported by you and is never verified by ETHOS, a trainer, or any agency.
Interview Lab responses, Experience Library entries, roadmap notes, and anything else you type into ETHOS Practice are yours. Because this content is stored only in your own browser’s local storage (see the Privacy Policy), ETHOS never receives, hosts, stores, or has access to it — there is nothing here for ETHOS to claim a license over. You’re responsible for what you choose to enter, including not including confidential or third-party information you’re not free to disclose (see the Privacy Policy’s “Sharing information about other people” section). Reserved: if a future version introduces server-side storage or sharing of your content, this section will be replaced with real terms governing that — including exactly what limited license ETHOS needs to store and display it back to you, which will never extend to using your personal narrative content for anything beyond operating the product for you.
Every practice scenario, question, prompt, resource article, and other material ETHOS Prep provides is original work owned by ETHOS (or used with permission), protected by copyright. You may use it for your own personal exam preparation. You may not copy, scrape, bulk-extract, redistribute, resell, or represent it as your own or as official agency material. If you believe ETHOS content improperly reproduces something you own the rights to, contact us (section 16) with enough detail to identify it — ETHOS will review and respond directly rather than operating a formal takedown process designed for a different legal system.
Don’t use ETHOS Prep to: misrepresent ETHOS content as official, leaked, or agency-issued material; scrape, bulk- download, or systematically extract content; attempt to access any part of the site or its systems you’re not intended to access; or interfere with the site’s normal operation. Anything delivered to a public, anonymous browser can ultimately be viewed or copied by a determined visitor — these terms are the legal boundary on doing that, not a claim that the site employs technical measures to prevent it.
ETHOS Prep is provided on an “as available” basis. Features, content, and pricing may change, and ETHOS may add, modify, or discontinue any part of the product at any time. ETHOS doesn’t guarantee uninterrupted availability.
No third-party service — payment processor, analytics provider, or otherwise — is integrated into ETHOS Prep today. If that changes, this section and the Privacy Policy will name the provider and describe what it can access before it ships.
No purchase, subscription, or paid service is active on this site today; the current Pricing page shows provisional, planning-stage figures only, with no payment processor connected. When ETHOS introduces real paid access, this section will be replaced with the actual commercial terms — price, currency, billing period, access duration, whether access renews automatically, cancellation rights, and refund policy — disclosed in full before any purchase, consistent with British Columbia’s consumer-protection requirements for online sales. No auto-renewal, and no fee of any kind, will ever apply without that disclosure appearing before you pay.
Creating an account requires an email address and a password — nothing else. By creating an account, you affirmatively accept the version of these Terms and the Privacy Policy in effect at that moment; ETHOS records which version you accepted and when. You’re responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. You may permanently delete your account at any time from the account page — this erases your email and password from ETHOS’s systems and cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what account data ETHOS stores, what deletion does and doesn’t remove (purchase/payment records are retained separately, for financial record-keeping), and how to request a copy of your account data. Creating an account does not move your existing Interview Lab entries, practice history, or other in-product activity to ETHOS’s servers — that content remains on your own device unless and until a future version of the product adds an explicit, separate way to sync it, with your clear awareness that it’s happening. ETHOS does not currently support changing the email address on an existing account; if you need to use a different email, delete your account and create a new one.
You may stop using ETHOS Prep, or delete your account (section 13), at any time. ETHOS may suspend or terminate an account, or restrict or block access to the site, for anyone who violates section 9 (Acceptable Use) or these terms generally. Termination doesn’t affect any rights or obligations that by their nature should survive it, including section 8 (intellectual property) and section 15 (disclaimers and limitation of liability).
ETHOS Prep is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by British Columbia law, ETHOS is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including any recruiting outcome. Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
ETHOS may update these terms as the product changes — most significantly when paid access (section 12) becomes real, which will require a real update here before it launches. If these terms materially change after you’ve accepted a version, ETHOS will ask you to accept the new version rather than silently applying it. Each version carries the date and version number shown at the top of this page. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and ETHOS Prep regarding the site.
